TUBE STRIKE MUST BE ACTION OF LAST AND NOT FIRST RESORT1.00.00pm GMT Wed 15th Dec 2004 Commenting on the threat of strike action on the Tube by unions on Christmas Eve, Liberal Democrat London Assembly Transport Spokesperson, Graham Tope, said:- "This Tube strike threat is yet another sword of Damocles hanging over the heads of London's travelling public. "Of course employees are justified in raising concerns over any number of issues with their employers. However, strike action should be used only as a last and not a first resort. Tube strikes are bad for business, bad for the Olympic bid and bad for Londoners. "It really must be time for the Mayor and Transport for London to sort out transport labour relations for once and for all." ENDS
