SALLY HAMWEE ELECTED CHAIR OF THE LONDON ASSEMBLY11.36.17am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 11th May 2005 Liberal Democrat, Sally Hamwee, was today unanimously elected Chair of the London Assembly for the next 12months. The appointment was made today during the Annual General Meeting of the Assembly. Sally Hamwee said:- "I look forward to working with all colleagues during the next year to raise the profile of the London Assembly and to continue to improve its scrutiny role by building on the work of the last five years. "As Chair, I will strive to provide a cohesive force that holds Mayor Livingstone to account. I will work to build constructive relationships with all members on the Assembly to make sure that our work and the Mayor's decisions benefit all of London and all Londoners." ENDS
