KILEY SUPPORTS LIB DEM CALLS FOR METRONET TO BE SACKED FROM FIXING TUBE4.06.48pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 6th Apr 2005 Liberal Democrat Transport Spokesperson, Lynne Featherstone today got agreement from Commissioner for Transport, Bob Kiley, that Metronet should immediately have its contract revoked for maintaining the Tube. The agreement by Mr Kiley came in answer to calls by the Liberal Democrats that Metronet should have its contract taken away. Lynne Featherstone said:- "Mr Kiley has at last acknowledged that Metronet cannot cope with maintaining the Tube. Hesitation in sorting this out will just mean Londoners will struggle on and face more delays, cancellations and overrunning engineering works. "Mr Kiley and Mr Livingstone should act now to prevent commuters suffering even more by sacking Metronet. The responsibility of maintaining the infrastructure of the Tube should be brought back in house and run by Transport for London." ENDS Notes to editor Mr Kiley was responding to Ms Featherstone in questions at City Hall
