TRIPLING OF HEATHROW NIGHT FLIGHTS 'SLAP IN THE FACE' FOR LOCAL RESIDENTS - DOOCEY11.11.00am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 4th Oct 2004 Liberal Democrats in the London Assembly today reacted with dismay to reports that early hour flights into Heathrow could triple under revisions by Ministers to existing flight regulations. Liberal Democrat London Assembly Member, Dee Doocey, said:- "This is another demonstration of just how the people of South West London are being routinely ignored by this Government, and especially, by the Department of Transport. "More early morning flights will be devastating to the local communities around Heathrow. Ministers misled people about the need for a fifth terminal, fought residents in the courts over night flights and are now set to slap local residents in the face once again by possibly trebling the number of early morning flights over their houses. "It is time Ministers started listening to those who have their quality of life damaged by Heathrow, and not those who live miles away from the depressing drone of planes continually flying low over their houses."
