Lib Dems look forward to working on behalf of Londoners11.23.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 11th Jun 2004 The Liberal Democrats have increased their numbers on the London Assembly - the only major party who came out of the elections with more members. Dee Doocey, who has most recently been working as a management consultant, was elected as a Londonwide Assembly member. She also stood in the South West constituency. She said: "The Conservatives held the South West constituency by the narrowest of margins and Labour were well behind. "As a Londonwide member, I look forward to serving the whole of London in the fight for increased policing and more affordable housing." Fellow Liberal Democrat Sally Hamwee, who has been a member of the London Assembly for four years, two of them as its chair, welcomed the new member and warned: "Labour lost the Assembly election and cannot guarantee that Ken Livingstone gets the budget he wants. The Tories made no gains and both parties lost their leaders. The Liberal Democrats are in a position of real influence and we look forward to using it wisely and effectively for the benefit of London." ENDS
