Victory for bus route campaigners

The victorious bus campaigners

Local campaigners were delighted today after convincing Mayor Ken Livingstone to trial a much-needed Muswell Hill to Swiss Cottage bus route.

A delegation, including London Assembly member Lynne Featherstone and campaign leader Keith Tarn, were told the good news at a meeting with the Mayor at City Hall this morning.

Following a consultation period there will be trial buses along the route in the mornings and afternoons from early next year.

The campaigners welcomed the news. Lynne Featherstone, Lib Dem chair of the London Assembly transport committee and Haringey councillor, said:

"This is a major breakthrough. All of those who campaigned hard for this route deserve immense credit.

"I am confident that we can work with the Mayor and Transport for London to make this trial bus route a success.

"There is huge demand for this route. We firmly believe the trial will lead to a permanent expansion in the future."
