Lib Dems slam Tube disruptions

12.00.00am GMT Thu 14th Nov 2002

Lynne Featherstone, London Assembly Liberal Democrat transport spokesperson, today hit out at disruptions and service cancellations on the Underground:

"It is unacceptable that whole sections of the Tube should be out of service because of driver action. Any driver who has real safety concerns because of the lack of firefighter cover should be talking to management who will be advised by HM Rail Inspectorate."

"The Inspectorate is there to judge what is safe and what is not for the travelling public. The suspicion must remain that the Waterloo and City line and half the Piccadilly line are closed because of unofficial secondary action in support of the FBU strike."
