No.10 Bus Service "unacceptable"12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 9th Aug 2002 At a meeting with Keith Moffatt, Managing Director of Metroline buses, GLA Liberal Democrat Transport spokesperson Lynne Featherstone slammed the troubled no.10 bus service as "unacceptable". "There can be few bus routes anywhere in the world that have a website set up by angry passengers," said Ms Featherstone. "The no.10 is a busy route through the heart of London. Passengers report long delays, sudden cancellations, risky driving and rude staff." "The latest quarterly figures for this service from London Buses show that bad performance levels are getting worse." "The no.10 bus runs from Hammersmith through King's Cross to Archway. Along the King's Cross-Archway section passengers have no obvious public transport alternative. Business managers have complained that staff using the bus are often late for work." "Keith Moffatt explained that it was planned to halve the route in length which would make operation more efficient. Road works on the Euston Road had made matters worse. He was convinced that the new 390 service from Marble Arch to Archway would give passengers a better performance." "Ms Featherstone said the meeting with Metroline had been positive, but that "things simply have to get better."
