The changes to the Mayor's budget from the Liberal Democrat London Assembly Group include detailed plans to double the number of affordable homes being delivered across London, to boost the creation of new apprenticeships up to 250,000 including the creation of 6,700 new apprenticeships for small businesses and to improve the fare structure, especially to help people who work part-time. Other proposals include reinstating dedicated ward Safer Neighbourhood policing Teams and targeted improvements in childcare.
The Liberal Democrat London Assembly Group proposals are fully costed and will be delivered by reversing the Mayor's 33 pence a month cut in the GLA precept, backed up by responsible prudential borrowing to fund the investment plans. The proposals also involve cutting out long standing waste and unnecessary expenditure which the Mayor still fails to address, such as chauffeur driven cars for senior Met police officers.
