Notes for Editors
In May of this year Dee became Chair of the London Assembly, another role where she has gained the respect of members, staff, and the media, as well as outside observers for the efficient way she runs the Assembly's business.
Since her election to the London Assembly in 2004, Dee has chaired the Economic Development, Culture Sport and Tourism Committee, holding to account in her firm, but all always fair, manner those responsible for delivering the 2012 London Olympics.
As a leading member of the Metropolitan Police Authority Dee has championed liberal values throughout her work. She was key to ensuring that the Metropolitan Police altered their approach to the way demonstrations are policed in London after the appalling events following the G20 summit held in 2009. Dee has also been acknowledged for her detailed scrutiny of the Met's budget and is a key member of the Home Office Olympic Security Board dealing with security arrangements for the 2012 Games.
Before joining the London Assembly, Dee had a varied career including ten years as Finance Director of the Liberal Party and Liberal Democrats; Group Managing Director for an international fashion company with operations in London, Hong Kong and China; and running a management consultancy. Dee also served as a councillor in the London Borough of Richmond for eight years and chaired the Housing Committee.
