Double standards for Olympic transport - Doocey

11.06.00am GMT Thu 6th Mar 2008

London Assembly Liberal Democrats have condemned the International Olympic Committee's request for over 3,100 cars to transport officials and corporate sponsors to the Olympic site in 2012.

Dee Doocey, Liberal Democrat Olympics Spokesperson on the London Assembly commented:

"You can't tell Londoners to travel by public transport, yet at the same time kick them off their roads so that VIPs can be whisked around in chauffeur-driven limousines. This is one rule for the haves, and another for the have-nots.

"This double standard makes a mockery of Olympic organisers faith in London transport."
