'Londoners should not be fooled by Mayor's Budget Demands' - Tuffrey12.00.00pm GMT Wed 12th Dec 2007 Commenting on the release of the Mayor's 2008-09 consultation Budget, Liberal Democrat Leader on the London Assembly Mike Tuffrey said: "In the last 7 years the Mayor has pushed up his council tax two and a half times. Londoners should not be fooled. If re-elected in May 2008, Ken Livingstone will demand inflation-busting increases again. "Met police officers must be given their full pay award and not be short-changed. The mess that Gordon Brown's failed PPP has made of the Tube and the government's under-funding of London's fire service mean that the Mayor's budget for next year is not sustainable. "If Ken Livingstone remains as Mayor, London's council tax payers will continue to be fleeced." ENDS
