LIB DEMS URGE NORTHERN LINE PASSENGERS TO CLAIM REFUND

12.01.00am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 14th Oct 2005

The London Assembly Liberal Democrats today urged commuters who use the Northern Line to claim a refund for their lost travel following the suspension of their service.

The London Assembly Liberal Democrats are calling for all Northern Line commuters who have a weekly, monthly or yearly travel or Oyster Cards to complete the form at www.tfl.gov.uk/tube/contacts/refunds.asp to be considered for a refund for their lost travel and inconvenience.

Liberal Democrat London Assembly Transport spokesman, Geoff Pope, said:-

"Long suffering Northern Line commuters should exercise their right to a refund from London Underground for all the inconvenience they have had to endure over the last few days.

"Too often people forget that if they have not received a decent service that they are entitled under Transport for London's Customer Charter to get cash back for the travel they have not received.

"Northern Line passengers have had to bear the brunt of a truly awful service. I hope that Transport for London will demonstrate their good will and offer those genuine customers, who have suffered inconvenience and hassle, some money back for the problems they have had to face this week."
