LATE NIGHT TUBES WELCOME, BUT MAKE SURE MORNING WEEKEND WORKERS HAVE OPTIONS - FEATHERSTONE

11.34.41am GMT Mon 22nd Nov 2004

Commenting on the announcement by Mayor Livingstone to consult over plans to run Tubes an hour later on weekends, Liberal Democrat London Assembly Transport Spokesperson, Lynne Featherstone, said:-

"During the Mayoral elections Liberal Democrats called for late night running of the Tube at weekends. We welcome the consultation and feel sure the move will be popular with many thousands who enjoy a night out in London at the end of the working week.

"As part of this consultation, the Mayor will need to make sure buses are in place for those who work weekends and need to get to work early. He should also look at laying on express bus services from outer London at those times."
