TOPE SET TO DRIVE EFFICIENT AND EFFECTIVE MET POLICE FORCE12.27.24pm BST (GMT +0100) Thu 8th Jul 2004
Leader of the Liberal Democrats in the London Assembly, Graham Tope, has today been re-elected as Chairman of the Metropolitan Police Authority Finance Committee. The role includes decision-making powers on how much money each Borough gets to implement their policing strategies, and plays a critical role in ensuring that Londoners get an efficient and effective police service. Graham Tope said: "I am honoured to take up the role that will make sure police across London will get the cash they need to get the job done. I will ensure that this post will remain a non-political post that makes decisions for the benefit of Londoners and the police at the expense of criminals. "I will continue to drive forward the review of the Metropolitan Police Service finances to ensure that Londoners get real value for money, while making sure that every possible penny is put into front line policing services to tackle crime across the capital."
