Lib Dems call for improvements in Coulsden bus services12.00.00am GMT Wed 13th Nov 2002 London Assembly transport spokesperson Lynne Featherstone has written to Transport for London, calling on them to provide much-needed bus improvements in the Coulsdon area of Croydon. "There is a great demand for a service to go around the Tollers Estate in Old Coulsdon. Several local residents have contacted me suggesting either a new bus route or that the existing 404 route is extended." "I have written to Peter Hendy, Director of Surface Transport for Transport for London, asking him to consider these options. "I have also asked Mr Hendy to consider extending the 404 or 466 routes as far as Caterham Valley. The re-routing of the 409 service away from Old Coulsdon means that local people can no longer travel south on a direct route to Caterham Valley and beyond to East Grinstead. Extending the 404 or 466 routes would be very helpful to local bus users." "And a final bonus would be if he would consider extending the night bus to Old Coulsdon south to Caterham Valley. "Given the public demand for these improvements, I look forward to receiving a prompt reply from Mr Hendy!"
