Taxpayers "need To Know" What Ken And Kiley Were Hiding - And Whether £4 Million Was Wasted12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 29th Jul 2002 GLA Liberal Democrats today challenged Mayor Ken Livingstone and his transport chief Bob Kiley to explain why the judge in his aborted High Court PPP Tube case attacked them for failing to disclose key documents. Lynne Featherstone, Lib Dem transport spokesperson said: "Taxpayers need to know what Ken and Kiley were hiding - and whether £4 million of their money was wasted on lawyers' fees." Ms Featherstone, currently Vice Chair of the Assembly's Transport Committee, called for the committee to hear explanations from Mr Livingstone and Mr Kiley, and to examine the judge's comments in detail. "Government lawyers seem to have convinced the judge that the Mayor and Transport for London had no standing to bring this case. If the court hearing has been scuppered by Labour bias that is appalling." "But it may be that Ken and Kiley mishandled the whole court case. Either way, public money is precious, and London has a right to know what the truth is."
